Results of skin testing, drug provocation tests and IgE tests were also recorded along with advice given to patients and details of any subsequent reaction. We identified an allergy to chlorhexidine but unfortunately, when the patient was readmitted for a second attempt, he had another episode of anaphylaxis following insertion of a urinary catheter that was not recognized as being impregnated with chlorhexidine.
