Abstract A new species of Lejeuneaceae found in N. E. Cuba, Lejeunea multidentata, is described and illustrated. The plants are characterized by leaves, underleaves, female bracts and perianth keels with dentate margins, and ovate-lanceolate leaf lobes with acute apices. Lejeunea multidentata is considered to be related to L. boryana Mont. and L. controversa Gottsche, as the three species share a characteristic dull appearance caused by the strongly papillose cells.
