When bubbles are present in liquid insulating material, breakdown voltage decreases. For this reason, bubbles are weak point for liquid insulating material generally. In recent years, fine bubbles have been studied in various fields. It is expected that liquid insulating material with fine bubbles leads to new properties. In this paper, we investigated the AC breakdown voltage characteristics of mineral oil with and without fine bubbles. As a result, it was confirmed that fine bubbles are less likely to lower the breakdown voltage of mineral oil. In addition, it was confirmed that the fine bubble generator used in this paper has the ability to generate fine bubbles in ultra-pure water. N2 fine bubbles might be difficult to become a weak point like large bubbles.
