A new metastable γ′ variety of V2O5has been prepared by chemical or electrochemical deintercalation of lithium from a γ-LiV2O5bronze. The structure of the new phase has been determined with a Rietveld method and compared to those of the normal V2O5oxide and of γ-LiV2O5. γ′-V2O5transforms into the normal form of V2O5at 340°C.
