In virtue of equations (2) and (3), the norm of behavior when the energy density of the magnetic field is comparable to, or exceeds, the energy density of the mass motions is quite different from what it would be if this were not the case. Thus, if the magnetic field dominates and determines the motions, we may expect the pattern of the field and of the motions to evolve along one of two directions: Either the magnetic field gets altered in such a way that its influence on the motions is progressively reduced and a stationary static state is eventually reached, or the motions are amplified at the expense of the field until some kind of a balance in the interaction between the two fields is reached. 5.
