We have studied phonons in UCoGa 5, an isostructural compound of the heavy fermion superconductor PuCoGa 5. Our neutron inelastic scattering experiment revealed very clear longitudinal and transverse acoustic phonons and low energy optical phonons along the high symmetry directions. The phonon frequencies measured at room temperature are in good agreement with ab initio calculation assuming a Coulomb repulsion U= 0.
