What do these titles tell us? Firstly, they provide information about two functional roles common in business — that is, being a senior member of the salesforce and the chairing of a committee planning the use of human resources. The second thing which these titles tell us is rather more subtle, and it is that the organisation would normally expect these roles to be filled by men.
