METHODSSprague-Dawley rats and GEPR-9s were anesthetized (ketamine/xylazine), and microwire electrodes or cannulae were implanted stereotaxically. 2, 4 At least 5 days later, behavior and unit responses to 12 kHz tone bursts were recorded with split-screen video and analyzed. 4 Cannulae and microwire sites were identified histologically.RESULTSThe major components of the AGS neuronal network in GEPR-9s consist of the inferior colliculus central nucleus (ICc), inferior colliculus external nucleus (ICx), deep layers of superior colliculus (DLSC), caudal pontine reticular nucleus (PRF), and periaqueductal gray (PAG)(Fig. 1).
