A model with minimal correlations among nucleon momenta agrees well with refined data on fragment momentum distributions resulting from peripheral nucleus-nucleus collisions. The postulates are identical to those of Feshbach and Huang, but are applied to compute a quantity more relevant to expeeriment: the dependence of the momentum distribution on fragment mass.
