Evidence is presented for the formation of the 2, 4, 6-tri-t-butylphenoxy radical upon the oxidation of 2, 4, 6-tri-i-butyl-phenol and upon the dissociation of certain 4-substituted 2, 5-cyclohexadienones. The reactions of this radical with nitro-gen dioxide, bromine and oxygen are discussed and evidence cited for the structures of the products.
