A number of antiviral drugs are now available to treat HIV-infected children, and more are under investigation and in the process of development. Much research needs to be done before a cure for HIV is achieved, however, and a number of questions remain, in part because HIV infection in children is somewhat different than it is in adults. This manuscript will review several outstanding questions with regard to treatment of HIV infection in infants and children.
