We conducted a matched case–control study to assess the effectiveness of Lyme vaccine (LYMErix) as it was used in clinical practice. We found ≥3 doses to be 71% effective against Lyme disease. This is the first study to show that the Lyme vaccine is effective in a real-world setting. In a large scale case-control study conducted in Connecticut, we found that, before it was removed from the market, the effectiveness of Lyme vaccine in preventing confirmed cases of Lyme vaccine in actual clinical practice was 71%.
