Thromboxane B2levels are believed to reflect the levels of the active precursor thromboxane A2, present during biosynthetic transformations of arachidonic acid. A radioimmunoassay for thromboxane B2is described. The antibodies show selective recognition of the thromboxane B structure with a sensitivity of 100 pg. The method was applied to determine thromboxane B2levels during platelet aggregations induced by PGH2, the prostaglandin endoperoxide.
