Depression, anorexia and a variety of nervous symptoms with a case fatality rate of 89% developed among 256 fattening pigs given feed supplemented with sodium selenite at the rate of 300 mg/kg, instead of the recommended 0.3 mg/kg. Highest tissue Se values were in kidneys, acute cases having 3.77 mg/kg.
