Two populations were analysed by gel electrophoresis for acid phosphatase, phosphoglucose isomerase and glutamate oxaloacetic transaminase [aspartate aminotransferase], known to be controlled by one, two and three loci, respectively. The Iranian population was monomorphic at each locus. The Turkish population was polymorphic at three loci; one allele predominated at each of the three, e.g. 96% Acp1b for acid phosphatase. In the Iranian population, the rarer alleles of two of the polymorphic loci in the Turkish population were fixed. Linkage was apparent between Pgi2 and Got1, although recombinants were found in some crossed progeny.
