22 male and 18 female laboratory-bred virgin prairie voles (aged 31–38 days) were given simultaneous access to small and large opposite-sex voles for 20 min and for 48 hrs. Both sexes preferred larger animals on the 48-hr test (ie, they nested together), although the preference was stronger in females.
