There have been numerous books and articles written about infections and their treatment. This book, I can assure you, is one of the best, if not the best multiauthored text I have even read on this subject. It covers every aspect of infectious diseases, which will always be a concern for the obstetrician and gynecologist and, in fact, for all physicians. However, the obstetrician, in addition, has to be aware that antimicrobial therapy in pregnancy will affect two individuals—mother and fetus. It is vitally important that the physician have confidence in the selection of antibiotics to treat infections. This selection can be facilitated by knowledge of the clinical aspects of the disease, by the antibiotics available, by the knowledge of their specific mechanisms of action on the organisms, and by their sensitivities. This book tells it all. There are four sections. Section 1 deals with general considerations of principles of
