Pregnant women (100%) showed gingival inflammation. The prevalence and severity of gingival disease in pregnant women was significantly higher than in women post-partum. The increase was noticed from the 2nd month of gestation and reached a maximum in the 8th month. During the last month of gestation there was a decrease. After parturition the state of gingiva was similar to that at the 2nd month of pregnancy. Gingival pocket graphs were significantly increased during pregnancy. The increase after parturition indicates that deepening was probably caused by enlargement of the gingiva. The increase in occurrence and severity of gingival inflammation during pregnancy did not cause lasting damage to the periodon-tium. || ABSTRACT AUTHORS: Authors
