Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive form of breast cancer that differs in epidemiology, risk factors, and prognosis from other types of breast cancer. The challenge in treating TNBC lies in the lack of targeted therapies currently available. Chemotherapy remains the only treatment option presently. Current research efforts are focused on identifying targeted agents and optimizing treatment for TNBC. Identification of different molecular subtypes of TNBC may aid in further tailoring treatment for this type of breast cancer.
