The frequency of HL-A antigens found in a group of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) was compared with that found in a nonarthritic “normal” population. An attempt was also made to quantitate the relative amounts of HL-A antigens on lymphocytes of patients with RA as compared to control subjects' lymphocytes using three different HL-A antisera. No difference was found between controls and patients with RA either in antigen frequency or quantity of the HL-A antigens on the lymphocytes.
