In a recent article published inMolecular Cell, Daiet al.demonstrate that energy stress induced by a ketogenic diet or fasting can enhance checkpoint blockade therapy. Energy stress promotes lysosome-mediated degradation of the immunoinhibitory ligand programmed death-ligand 1 (PDL1) and upregulation of tumor interferon (IFN) responses.
