Altogether, the book should be useful as a factual reference (about who, when and where) for historians of this particular group in Australia and around the world, and also for historians of Australian ethnic groups in general. However, the lack of the slightest reference to the current theoretical and research agendas of the social science studies of immigration and ethnicity, and the largely ‘context-less’ group history it depicts, does not make it very useful, however, to sociologists in this field of research.
