The reaction conditions for the enzymatic production ofp-aminobenzoic acid were optimized, using a nitrilase in cells ofRhodococcusrhodochrousJ1. The highest accumulation, 110 gp-aminobenzoic acid/liter of reaction mixture, was attained fromp-aminobenzonitrile, with a conversion yield of 100%.
