The fishes of this family Callionymidae are classified into I 9 genera. The twelve genera are redifined and the other seven genera are established as new. A key to the genera is given. The habitat and geographic distribution. of each genus are shown. The external characteJ,"S, especially cephalic lateral lines, lateral lines on the body, body size, body form, body color, eye diameter and secondary sexual characters, are discussed in relation to the systematics of this family.
