Circadian rhythm is a pervasive feature of life, programmed by the conserved core clock machinery. A recent study inNature(Marcheva et al., 2010) reveals that core clock components regulate β cell function and integrate insulin secretion into rhythmic metabolic regulation, providing new insight into the pathogenesis of diabetes.
