The cumulative lifetime risk of pancreatic cancer in this genetic disorder is estimated to be approximately 30%. The high risk of pancreatic cancer in this genetic disorder may be related to the prolonged duration of pancreatitis, allowing for the gradual transmission of a normal to fibrotic, dysfunctional organ.
