Three new naphtho[2,3-c]furan derivatives, 5-hydroxy-3-methylnaphtho[2,3-c]furan-4(9H)-one, 5-hydroxy-3-methylnaphtho[2,3-c]furan-4,9-dione and 5-hydroxy-3-methylnaphtho[2,3-c]furan-4(1H)-one, along with known anthraquinones were isolated from Cape aloe. The structure of the new compounds were determined on the basis of spectroscopic data and X-ray analysis.
