This article is a response to the comments by Astrid Christine Erber and Robert Colebunders about the study on mass drug administration of ivermectin and dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine for malaria control. The authors agree with the comments that establishing the safety of ivermectin in pregnant and breastfeeding women, and in children weighting less than 15 kg, who are currently untreated during mass drug administration campaigns because of a scarcity of safety data, should be a priority.
