三宅島および八丈島からネズッポ科魚類の1新種ヒメテグリSynchiropus kiyoaeが20個体採集された.本種はSynchiropus postulusgroupに属するが,postulusgroupの他の3種,S.postulus, S.minutulus, S.laddiとは背鰭の形や体色斑紋のちがいにより区別される.なお, 本種の生息環境, 産卵行動についても言及した.
