PreviewEvaluation of patients with disorders of calcium metabolism has traditionally been complex and confusing. The last two decades have seen a rapid growth in the understanding of systemic calcium homeostasis and the development of a variety of new and reliable tools for the assessment of patients with abnormal calcium homeostasis. In most instances diagnosis is now straightforward, as discussed here by Dr Stewart.
