Results of high-precision alpha-spectrometric230Th/234U dating of hermatypic corals in Palawan in western Philippines, and Cebu, Bohol and Panglao Islands in the central Philippines, confirm the presence of MIS 5e reef terraces at 2 to ≥13m above the present mean sea level, similar to stable regions. This suggests the relative vertical stability of the islands since the Last Interglacial Period. In Panglao Island, the elevation of the 5e terrace increases to the northeast indicating tilting of the island to the southwest. The continued sense of uplift, since at least the last interglacial, is indicated by the similarity in the spatial variation of middle Holocene tidal notch. A 5c terrace, though less developed, is also recognized in Panglao Island. Along the San Isidro coast, the inner margins of 5c and 5e terraces are at elevations of 5 and 7.1–8m, respectively, and the difference in altitude between the terraces is only ca. 2–3m. Assuming that the sea level during MIS 5e was 3–6m above the present sea level, sea level at MIS 5c is estimated to be equal to or slightly higher than the present mean sea level.
