The article reports on the first recorded occurrence of Erysiphe carpinicola sl in Carpius betulus (hornbeam), a native tree in Poland. Hornbeams, which are often found in natural forest communities, have previously been found with two other species of powdery mildews (Erysiphales) in the country. Samples of Erysiphe carpinicola sl were collected from leaves of hornbeam in Lublin, Poland in November 2005. Both surfaces of the leaves were found with white mycelium and scattered or gregarious ascomata.
