DiscussionThe results of this pilot study sup port the feasibility of conducting short-term therapy groups for schizophrenic outpatients. Anti tudes involving social anxiety and distress were significantly im proved, and all five patients who completed the study rated the group as somewhat or very helpful. At the four-month follow-up, four of the patients believed they were relating better with others, and their general treatment status had remained stable.
