Adult mice on stock diet received tritium oxide in physiological saline intraperitoneally. Reten tion of tritium was later estimated in body water and in the dry carcase. The biological half-life of body water was about 1.1 day. The percentage of administered tritium " bound " into tissue com pounds was0-5to 1.0. The curve of bound tritium retentions showed 2 major exponential components indicating half-lives of about9and90days. It is suggested that these represent relatively dynamic and relatively stable body constituents, respec tively. Their potential tritium-binding capacities are of comparable magnitude.-D. Duncan.
