A series of enantiomerically pure oxazolines tethered to alcohols have been prepared. The use of these oxazolines has been demonstrated in the catalysed addition of diethylzinc to aromatic aldehydes to afford the corresponding secondary alcohols with modest levels of asymmetric induction.
