We ESL teachers live in interesting times. Once, not so long ago, few people, even in our own institutions, understood what we did or paid much attention to it. Now, more than likely, the sheer numbers of nonnative English speakers enrolling in our schools, particularly in community colleges and public universities, force English as a Second Language (ESL) concerns and programs to the fore.
