This chapter introduces supply chain practitioners and scholars to the operational strategies that firms can implement to manage supply chain disruption risk. It explains the five key operational strategies, namely stockpile inventory, diversify supply, backup supply, manage demand and strengthen supply chain. The chapter explores each of these five strategies, with the goal of highlighting key factors that managers need to consider when designing and implementing their disruption mitigation strategy.
