A study of the water stability of soils as it applies to reclamation conditions involved experiments conducted with samples set up for given loads as well as with an undisturbed soil structure. Details are given of the determination of the intensity of soil wetting, the most suitable sample size, and the resistance of soil. The influence on the wetting intensity is discussed of the duration of the time samples are kept before testing. Observations are reported regarding the change in water stability with time, the role of microbiological processes, and the increase in erosional resistance after prelinimary wetting. The influence of temperature and compaction on soil water stability is also discussed.
