沖縄県では県内産の青果物の流通の円滑化を図るために通いコンテナが導入されている.包装コストや労力の削減, 品質保持などに効果を発揮しているが, 破損や目的外使用などによる空コンテナの回収率の低下の問題から事業の存亡が議論されている.そこで, 目的外使用の実態, 回収の問題点を調査するとともに, コンテナの強度の経年変化を落下試験と圧縮試験で検討した.その結果, 強度の低下は少なくとも10年は実用上問題がないものと判断した.
