Mucous nasolacrimal duct and lacrimal sac were then dissected from the bony nasolacrimal canal and orbital periosteum (Figs. The disadvantage of our proposed method is that it cannot be performed if there is an obstruction in the nasolacrimal duct and lacrimal sac as it involves the use of the nasolacrimal duct and lacrimal sac as a new lacrimal passage. However, our surgery is feasible because the inner surfaces of the lacrimal sac and the nasolacrimal duct are lined with nonciliated columnar epithelial cells that have no active fluid transport mechanism.
