The term scientific literacy' carries some interesting meanings about learning science, motivation, appropriate content and ways of teaching at both primary and secondary levels. This is because it has aims far beyond just reading articles about science. Its sights are set on preparing our pupils to be citizens at a time when scientific achievements will have moved on yet again, providing new benefits and new ethical dilemmas. Is it possible to teach science in appropriate ways? How should we deal with the knowledge explosion? Will we have time to teach all this as well as everything else?.
