Helical intermediates play important roles in the aggregation process of amyloid proteins. Herein, constrained helices were synthesized to mimic different helical structures reported in amyloid beta (A beta) and the different modulation effects on A beta aggregation were verified. Especially, A beta(17-23) stabilized in helical conformation would definitely transform A beta aggregates to short, low toxic fibrils.
