Summary Utilizing theCEPHreference panel andgenotypic datafor53markers, we haveconstructed a 20-locus multipoint genetic map ofhumanchromosome 4.NewRFLPs arereported forfourloci. Themap integrates ahigh-resolution genetic map of4pl6into acontinuous map extending to4q31andan unlinked cluster of three loci at4q35. The20linked markers forma continuous linkage groupof152cM inmales and202 cMinfemales. Likely genetic locations areprovided for25polymorphic anonymous sequencesand28 gene-specific RFLPs. Themap was constructed employing theLINKAGEandCRIMAPcomputational methodologies tobuild themultipoint map via a stepwise algorithm. A detailed 10-point map ofthe4pl6 region constructed fromtheCEPHpanel provides evidence forheterogeneity inthelinkage maps constructed fromfamilies segregating forHuntington disease (HD). Itadditionally provides evidence forposition-specific recombination frequencies inthetelomeric region of4p.
