An order-disorder phase transition was found in Chevrel-phase Ag 1.6 Mo 6 S 8 at about 280 K. From the analogy of results of the electrical resistance and the X-ray diffraction to those in Cu 1.8 Mo 6 S 8 , this is thought to be a structural phase transition from rhombohedral to triclinic due to the order-disorder transition of Ag atoms.
