Bubble electrospinning is a novel and powerful approach for mass production of nanofibers. In this work, a nonlinear mathematical model is established for analyzing the effect of the surface tension of polymer solution on the diameter of bubble-electrospun nanofibers. The validity of the model is then evaluated using 36wt% Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) solutions with different surface tension in bubble electrospinning process. The experimental data agree well with the model prediction, suggesting that the analytical model exhibits high accuracy which enables it to be used for the electrospinning process. The potential application of nanofibers to explosion-proof vest is outlined.
