Four new Acridoidea in the family Lentulidae from KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, are described as new to science. A new genus, Silvanidiella gen.nov., is erected to accommodate two diminutive new species, S. amazulu spec. nov. and S. griqua spec. nov. In addition, another distinctive monotypic new genus, Pondoidium gen. nov., with P. trilineatum spec. nov. as its generotype, is described, as is another new species from central Zululand, S. margaretae spec. nov., referable to the recently established sylvan genus Silvanidium Brown, 2012. All these taxa possess characteristically sculptured facial morphology and also display strong sexual dimorphism, suggesting affinities with the long-established core genus Eremidium Karsch, 1896. Salient anatomical and genitalic characters, especially in the case of males, are described and fully illustrated, while provisional keys for differentiating the new taxa are provided. Available information on biogeography, phenology, habitat association and climate aspects, together with field collection data and known distribution, is presented.
