Re-intervention after the deployment of several stents can be challenging. Balloon catheterization using a dilator is one technical procedure that is often used to dilate an obstructed site, which is an important means of achieving technical success. However, this can be hampered by the complexity of working in a milieu of several deployed stents. A novel, fine-gauge electrocautery dilator (Fine 025, Medico's HIRATA INC., Japan, Osaka) (Fig 1) is now available in Japan for dilation during endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage.
