Selective mono- and bis-Au(III) metalations of [26]hexaphyrins(1.1.1.1.1.1) were achieved in a 4:1 mixture of CH2Cl2 and methanol by using Na[AuCl4] as a Au(III) ion source and Ag3PO4 and Ag2CO3 as Au(III)-activating reagents.
