Table 1 summarizes data collection periods, survey regions and sample sizes by survey year. The NNS has covered all regions since 1993. The NNS survey duration varied from 4 to 10months, before becoming year-round in the Expanded NNS. There were about 35 000 participating households in the 2013 NNS, increasing to about 46 000 in the Expanded NNS in 2018, although response rates declined slightly between the two surveys.
