Particle detection efficiences of the Condensation Particle Counter (CPC) TSI-3010 are measured for various temperature differences between saturator and condenser. By increasing the temperature difference from the default value of 177deg;C to the maximum value of 25°C, the particle detection efficiency curve becomes steeper and shifts to smaller particle diameters. In this way, the 50% detection efficiency diameter of the TSI-3010 CPC decreases from 10.5 to 5.7 nm, without the necessity to change its internal design. In this size range, the desired lower detection limit of the TSI-3010 can be adjusted by operating the CPC at the corresponding temperature difference between saturator and condenser.
